Zentangle Leaf Design- 🍂 Fall Art
Explore the art elements & concepts of shape and pattern in the straightforward 🍂 design.
Materials:
Paper
Black markers (thin, medium, bold *optional)
Yellow, orange, red markers
Steps:
Draw Leaf shape outline using marker. Larger will be better!
Divide leaf into irregular sections using straight lines from stem to outer edge.
Create different zentangle designs in each section. Zentangles are simply repeating shapes and lines to create patterns.
Challenge yourself to use only marker and skip out on the pencil. By using marker straight out of the gate, you force yourself to work with whatever mark ends up on the page. Sometimes creativity is spurred on by minding boundaries. Make yourself work inside a set of rules and see happens!
Fill in warm color marker on top of zentangles- yellow, orange, red. This only works if you are using a permanent black marker! All other markers will blend with the warm colors and you’ll have a mess. Crayon and color pencil would work, too.
Use a thick black marker to outline the outer edge of the leaf, the dividing lines between zentangles, and color in the stem black. This will create cleaner lines for a more neat/finished look.
Optional: Add more zentangles with black marker if you wish. Sometimes that extra push for details is the difference between a piece you like and a piece you love.
Create echo shape lines around leaf to mimic falling action. I’d suggest using a cool color marker color for contest between the leaf and the background.
Done! :-)
